- Where can I register my vehicle or engine?
- You can enter your vehicle or machine online.
- How much will it cost to show my vehicle?
- If you’d like to exhibit a truck, tractor, car, motorbike, stationary engine or anything with wheels or tracks you should buy an Enthusiast Pass online. This gives you three-day access to the event and includes as many vehicles as you can bring for just $25. Buy your enthusiast pass here.
- So, I don’t need to pay for and register each vehicle separately?
- No. Simply buy your three day exhibitor ticket for $25 then bring as many vehicles as you’d like.
- I’ve changed my mind on which vehicle(s) I’ll be bringing, do I need to change my registration?
- You can enter your vehicle or machine online.
- I’d want to bring family and friends to help me exhibit my vehicles. Do they need to buy visitor tickets?
- No, there’s a discounted rate for supporters. You will need to buy a supporters ticket for any passengers or helpers you have. Our special rate for a three day supporter pass is $25 per adult, $10 for youths and free for kids 12 and under. Buy these here.
- I’d like to enter and pay on the day, can I?
- You can, but it will be very busy! We recommend pre-registering and paying beforehand; however EFTPOS and cash transactions will be available at the exhibitor entry gate if required.
- How does ticketing work on arrival?
- Show your exhibitor and supporter tickets (either printed out or on your mobile device) on arrival, and these will be swapped for exhibitor wristbands. Your exhibitor wristband will give you access to all three show days and the Shakedown in the Shed Saturday night function. You’ll also be given a vehicle information sheet for each set of wheels you’re exhibiting to fill out and display in your windscreen.
- When can I arrive with my vehicles?
- You’re welcome to arrive any time from Wednesday April 16th onwards, up until 9am on the Saturday and Sunday morning. You don’t need to pay extra for arriving early. Large machinery can be delivered earlier by arrangement – please email info@wheelsatwanaka.co.nz to confirm.
- Exhibitor gates will be open from 6.30am on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, it will be busy so we encourage you to leave plenty of time to park up – tasty breakfast options and coffee will be available.
- Is there a loading bank and or telehandler available?
- Yes, there’s a loading bank in the entry area at Central Machine Hire, 135 Ballantyne Road, and a telehandler can be prebooked if required. Please contact Dave Tetzlaff on dave@cmhltd.co.nz or 0274 352 216 to reserve this.
- When can I leave with my vehicles?
- Like most vehicle shows we'd prefer that you park your exhibiting vehicles up on Saturday and Sunday before 8.30am and leave them parked up, only moving when they're in a parade. You’re welcome to leave with your vehicles from 4.30pm, or they can stay onsite over-night as needed. All vehicles must be off site by 5.00pm, Tuesday, April 22nd unless otherwise arranged via info@wheelsatwanaka.co.nz
- Will my vehicles be safe?
- Security will be onsite from Thursday, April 18th onwards, and access to the event site is tightly restricted after hours. While all care is taken, exhibiting is at your own risk – please view the terms and conditions here.
- Can I bring my dog?
- No.
- Can I camp at Wheels at Wanaka?
- Limited camping sites are available onsite for exhibitors and volunteers only. Camping must be prebooked. Learn all about camping onsite here.
- Where do I enter and exit Wheels at Wanaka with my vehicles?
- There’s a dedicated exhibitor entry at 135 Ballantyne Road, (Central Machine Hire). Keep an eye out for the signs.
- Can I park my everyday vehicle next to my exhibition vehicle?
- No, the show site is for exhibition vehicles only. There is plenty of free exhibitors parking outside the main gates within for everyday / personal vehicles, with free shuttles running from the car parks and around the event.
- I’d like to camp next to / in my vehicle. Can I?
- Camping is available for exhibitors, however it’s not within the main show site which is gated, closed and monitored by security guards after hours. Camping must be pre booked and must be within the dedicated camp site. For all the information on camping, please click here.
- I’d like to take part in the tractor / truck pull, enter the Enduro X competitions, join the Land Rover rally’s etc. How do I do this?
- Great! There’s a number of fantastic competitions, demonstrations and events happening in and around Wheels at Wanaka and all are welcome to join the fun. All the details can be found on our website and the latest news is posted on the Wheels at Wanaka Facebook page, be sure to follow along and register early when you see the club specific entry forms online.
- What are the terms and conditions of showing my vehicle?
- You can find our standard terms and conditions here.
- How do I get my pass to Highlands Motorsports Museum?
- Your pass will be located within your emailed ticket confirmation. Please show this upon entry to Highlands.
- I just want to see the show and I’d like to buy a visitor ticket.
- You can buy a range of visitor tickets here.
- I’d like to park and display my vehicle(s) with my club / colleagues / friends. How can I save a spot so we can park up together?
- While we have general areas for exhibiting vehicles to park (trucks, tractors, cars etc), if you want to park together at the event, please coordinate arriving at the exhibition entry gate on Ballantyne Road as a club / group. It's a 60-acre site and as you'll see from the programme we have hundreds of categories to contend with, all arriving at the same time. Your organisation would be much appreciated.
- Can I bring my own alcohol into the event?
- No.
- I’d like to drive my vehicle in a parade. Will I be invited to do this?
- Yes! Consider this your invite – we’d love you to! Check out the full programme available from early 2025 – there’s a vehicle category parade every 15 minutes so check out what would be most relevant to you. Please be at your vehicle 20 mins beforehand and follow the instructions of your vehicle category convenor. Remember to stick to 5km per hour. You can find further parade information here.
- Can I come and go through the day with my exhibitor vehicle?
- Like most vehicle shows we'd prefer that you parked your exhibiting vehicles up and leave them onsite Sat and Sun between 9.30am - 4.30pm. You can leave them onsite when they're not parading - there's much to see / do /eat / drink at the event in between times. We do have free buses running into town and returning if you wish to leave the site at any point but please leave your vehicle on show.
- Does Wheels at Wanaka pay transportation costs for exhibition vehicles?
- As a general rule, no. We recommend getting in touch with your local vintage vehicle club or joining the Wheels at Wanaka Entrants Group on Facebook to combine transportation and logistics with others. We may consider a transportation contribution in exceptional circumstances, to ask about this please email info@wheelsatwanaka.co.nz
- Can I bring a quad bike / golf cart or the like to get around the event?
- No, other than mobility scooters, motorised personal transportation vehicles are not permitted within the event grounds. There are free hop-on, hop-off shuttles looping the site, stopping at all points of interest throughout the day which exhibitors and patrons are invited to use. Ebikes and push bikes are welcome. Please do not use your vehicle to drive around the event site. Vehicle movement is only allowed for getting to and from parades, demonstrations and competitions only.
- Tell me more about Shakedown In The Shed?
- This is the Saturday night function, and the place where the vehicle category awards are announced. It’s free to attend for all enthusiasts and trade exhibitors, and their supporters. You gain access via your exhibitor wrist band, no ticket or RSVP required. First come, best seated – other than for event sponsors, no tables can be reserved. Expect a bar, food trucks, entertainment and more – it’s a great night out. Complimentary buses will be running to Wanaka township after the event.
